Custo user guide
Everything you need to get the most out of Custo.
In an emergency, don't wait for the app — call your local emergency number or go to the nearest hospital.
Welcome to Custo
Custo is your family’s health companion — talk to a doctor, keep your medicines on track, and store your medical records privately, all in one app.
Custo works in English, አማርኛ, Afaan Oromoo, ትግርኛ and Soomaali. Tap the language button at the top of any screen to switch anytime.
Getting started
Choose “Just me” for a personal account, or “Me & my family” to also manage the people you care for.
You can add or change family members later from Profile → Family profiles.
Family profiles
Everyone you care for gets their own profile with a name, date of birth and photo. Anyone 18 or under is marked as a child so the doctor knows.
Tap a family member to edit their details or add a photo. Whenever you start a visit or save a record, you choose who it’s for.
Talk to a doctor
Tap “Call a doctor” on the Home screen to start a visit. Our assistant asks a few simple questions about how you feel — you can type or record your voice — then sends a clear summary to a doctor.
If the visit is for a family member, pick them first. A doctor usually opens your case in under 5 minutes.
If you describe something serious, Custo will tell you to get help right away. In a real emergency, always call your local emergency number.
Cases — your doctor conversations
A case is a request you send to a doctor through the check-up. Open the Cases tab to see your conversations and chat with the doctor once they pick up your case.
Cases that are still open or waiting also appear on your Home screen.
Tasks — what the doctor asks you to do
Tasks are things a doctor orders for you: a blood test, an X-ray or scan, a follow-up, or a measurement to take at home.
You’ll find them in the Cases tab and on Home. Mark each one done as you complete it.
Medicines & prescriptions
The Meds tab shows your prescriptions and when each dose is due. Custo reminds you at the right time — just tap “Taken” or “Skip”. Never change a prescribed dose without asking your doctor first.
Prescriptions are signed digitally and carry a QR code and short verification code, so any pharmacy can confirm they’re genuine.
Records — your private vault
The vault keeps your medical files — lab results, X-rays, notes — encrypted on your device. Only you can open it with your passphrase; not even Custo can see inside.
When you upload a file, choose which family member it belongs to. Keep a backup, and store your recovery phrase somewhere safe in case you ever forget your passphrase.
Your profile & privacy
Add a profile photo and fill in your Health profile — blood type, allergies, ongoing conditions and current medicines — so any doctor sees the full picture. You can also switch between light and dark mode and link Telegram to use Custo from chat.
Your sensitive records are encrypted, and your health information is only shared with a doctor when you start a visit or choose to share it.
